Last week, I had the pleasure of watching our company rally together like never before. We came together with a common goal that transcended the fundraising effort for Relay for Life; we came together to show the community our support of long time employee Shirley Kramer.
Leading our effort was Bart Shellabarger, and his entry in the Relay for Life Woman-less Beauty Pageant. All week long we brought in clothes, shoes, and of course a wig to complete his pageant wardrobe. It was a team effort to come up with a name, finalize his outfits, and help him with talent. He had a team of many that prepared him, dressed him, and of course applied his make up and nails! The effort continued Saturday night with a showing of support as people from every department cheered him on.
The evening began with a sleepwear competition and was then followed by
the talent competition. Bart impressed the everyone with his “moving” rendition of Man I Feel Like a Woman. The final portion of the night was evening wear during which time each contestant had to answer a question. After walking through the room in his sequined dress; Bart was asked, “What would you change about yourself?” After wishing first for cheese fries, Bart responded that he wouldn’t change a thing about himself. What he would change would Read the rest of this entry »

Going to Chicago this time of the year might sound like a drag to most folks, especially after surviving 2 blizzards in one week along with record amounts of snow, but not to me! I’m looking forward to it!
I’m going to participate in BakingTech 2010. The event, which is sponsored by the American Society of Baking, focuses on education, networking, leadership and personal development. It’s a chance for the Baking Industry, their suppliers and other industry experts to come together and share their knowledge, ideas and experience.

It’s that time again…time for us here at Cambridge International to acknowledge the tenure of some of our employees. How do we do that? We throw a party!!!
Our awards banquet is for our employees celebrating their 5th, 10th, 20th, 25th, 30th, 35th, 40th, and 45th years of service. Yes, we have 1 employee who has been with us for 45 YEARS, “Uncle Ray” Ray King.
This year’s banquet was held at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge MD. The evening offered dinner, dancing, lots of awards and plenty of fun for employees receiving their awards, their guests and their team leaders.

Believe it or not, life can be pretty exciting in the marketing department here at Cambridge. Yes, we do our fair share of the “normal” stuff like trade show planning and preparation, website and literature design, copy writing etc. but we also get to travel from time to time.
This week took the Cambridge International Marketing Team out on the road to do a whirlwind review of the International Poultry Expo being held in Atlanta, GA! Heather Collins and I met at 5:15 AM in the sleepy little town of Trappe where I live and together we headed West on US 50 headed for BWI Airport to catch our 7:30 AM flight.
