Last week, I had the pleasure of watching our company rally together like never before. We came together with a common goal that transcended the fundraising effort for Relay for Life; we came together to show the community our support of long time employee Shirley Kramer.
Leading our effort was Bart Shellabarger, and his entry in the Relay for Life Woman-less Beauty Pageant. All week long we brought in clothes, shoes, and of course a wig to complete his pageant wardrobe. It was a team effort to come up with a name, finalize his outfits, and help him with talent. He had a team of many that prepared him, dressed him, and of course applied his make up and nails! The effort continued Saturday night with a showing of support as people from every department cheered him on.
The evening began with a sleepwear competition and was then followed by
the talent competition. Bart impressed the everyone with his “moving” rendition of Man I Feel Like a Woman. The final portion of the night was evening wear during which time each contestant had to answer a question. After walking through the room in his sequined dress; Bart was asked, “What would you change about yourself?” After wishing first for cheese fries, Bart responded that he wouldn’t change a thing about himself. Each year the Sales and Support teams have a get together in January to celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of the previous year. We had to postpone our event this year due to snow but finally got a chance last weekend to party down!
Our event normally happens about the same time as the Grammys so we decided a few years back we would add our own award ceremony to the party agenda and call it the Cammys! For us it is a way to recognize our team members who have gone above and beyond in the prior year. There are 5 Cammy categories:
- Sales Person of the Year
- Team Leader of the Year
- Support Person of the Year
- Rookie of the Year
- Walks the Talk
Prior to the big night, team members nominate someone for each category but…..they can’t just enter a name. They have to elaborate on the reasons Read the rest of this entry »

It was just a normal Saturday afternoon here on the Eastern Shore in the Land of Pleasant Living when the after hours service phone rang. Our Director of Customer Experience, Amanda Reed, jumped into action.
Sure enough, it was a customer whose production line had come to an absolute standstill due to damage sustained by their metal conveyor belt. Read the rest of this entry »

Going to Chicago this time of the year might sound like a drag to most folks, especially after surviving 2 blizzards in one week along with record amounts of snow, but not to me! I’m looking forward to it!
I’m going to participate in BakingTech 2010. The event, which is sponsored by the American Society of Baking, focuses on education, networking, leadership and personal development. It’s a chance for the Baking Industry, their suppliers and other industry experts to come together and share their knowledge, ideas and experience.
Each year Cambridge International participates in the Marketplace Tabletop Read the rest of this entry »
